Is this a good price for fencing? **title edited by MNHQ**

Quoted £1800 for 30 m of feather edge 6ft high fencing. I think that is a decent price and includes removal of old fence.

DH not so sure. Currently only chain link shitty thing in place and I’m desperate for a decent one to go up.

DH seems to be stalling. Think he’s also worried about 6ft annoying neighbours. But that’s a standard height isn’t it?

We might sell in the next year and I think it’s important for it to be done to attract buyers and we will make it back in the house sale.
Thoughts?

Urgh. Sorry for the title. I’m so tired 😑 sleep deprivation is a bitch.

Does that include concrete posts and gravel boards?
If not, get a quote for one which does - the fence will last much longer.

Yes, this did include concreting in the posts. Do you think it’s a fair price?

Not sure about the cost, but definitely go for 6ft as anything lower and you'll be feeling like all eyes are on you!
We have had to recently take out some tall conifers, and hadn't realised the fence behind it wasn't 6ft and can not see into our neighbours house, as can they! We are in the process of getting quotes to add height! On the other side of our garden we have 6 ft fences - perfect height to not be able to see each other!

Depends if you like your neighbours! One side is full 6 foot put up by one side, the other is just some broken mesh fencing. We get on with both sides but we know the ones on the low side a lot better as we can easily chat. Also it looks a lot better enjoying their garden as well.
A common solution around here seems to be 6 foot for the first panels by the patio, and then 4 foot for the rest, so you have private and semi private areas.

We just had 8m of fencing done (6ft plus capping) and the old fence was removed and taken away for £450. Just bog standard boards, no concrete posts as its on a difficult plot so had to have a frame built and attached to another structure.

Have you had a couple of quotes? I think given the size £1800 seems a reasonable price but I would always get a few quotes in. Depends on your plot also - is it all level and straight-forward?

We paid £950 for a run of approximately 11m. Removing old fence and posts and replacing entirely with concrete posts and gravel boards.

We ordered the parts which came in at £465 and the guy that did it charged £485 labour. It took him 4 days to do it but would have taken less if we didn't live on solid chalk and rubble that was a b*stard to dig in to.

Our 6 foot panels are on top of the gravel boards so in total it's about 6.5ft tall. It's great. Very private and the neighbours are happy too.

Check that gravel boards are included as mentioned by PPs.
These are concrete strips that the boards sit on top of and then they don't rot as quickly as it is a barrier.
As well as having concrete posts, of course.
