Persuading landlord to replace carpet in loo

We’ll soon be moving rentals and are renting privately.
We signed up to the place quickly as it works on so many levels and there weren’t other options for us. But on closer inspection at a subsequent visit, I’ve realised that the downstairs loo has carpet in it. Yuck! How do I best go about negotiating with landlord to get them to replace this with simple cheap sheet vinyl? I don’t want to seem difficult straight away (haven’t even moved yet) - but surely they would prefer something that’s easier for tenants to keep clean too?
Thanks in advance.

You could ask to replace it at your cost. But the landlord would not be unreasonable to say no.
Many WCs have carpets in.
Are the males in your home unable to go to the toilette correctly?

If you’ve signed a contract it will probably be taken as seen and they are likely to say no.
Offer to split the cost maybe?

I think most likely will be if you offer to pay yourself and they agree to letting you amend it. If you've signed the contract already you don't have any negotiating power at this point. But I agree that carpets in toilets are horrid!!

Just ask them. Don't tell them they will want to - if they did, they'd have already done so.

Vinyl needs a decent flat surface underneath, and not all bathrooms have flat floors. There may be more to it than just putting down cheap vinyl - plyboarding, sorting skirting board heights. If they say no, consider whether you've want to offer to do it yourselves. If not, stick down an old-fashioned toilet mat and wash it regularly.

Thanks all.
I guess I was hoping there was some magic phrase one of you knew of that works wonders in getting landlords to do what you want, or some legislation that outlaws carpet in the loo (joke!).
I will try just asking directly and go from there.
The carpet that’s there is old and stained already - and that’s before my young children potentially add to the mix!
I agree I would have been in a better position if I had asked before signing up - but the whirlwind of events meant I didn’t notice it until afterwards. Too many balls in the air at the moment.

as someone else said that the floor may be uneven underneath & need skimming - it could be wood & wood & damp & vinyl don't work (I found out!) than you get vinyl fitted & you may have to replace the metal joiner thingee near the door. ask if LL can steam clean carpet? it wont make it new but its better than nothing- anyway ask LL if its possible - he can only say no
