Moving long distance to the Cheshire area from Cambridge. We've found a house in a lovely area, it's a gorgeous village with lots of lovely pubs and Best Bit is that we can get to work in 30 mins on the train and the house ticks the boxes.

What would you offer?

Buxton Road, Disley, Stockport, Cheshire

Good pubs, a decent train line and great access to Lyme Park and the Peak District. That being said, have you visited the house at different times of the day?
The A6 can be pretty busy and quite a lot of HGVs.Sorry, I know that's not what you asked.

houseymchouse · 29/05/2019 18:29

@LakesLover yes we have which has been so irritating to take it off work. You can't hear the road from inside the house but it is very loud outside the house!

Have you asked why the current owners are moving so quickly? Might give you an indication of how much they need/want or whether it’s a quick sale that’s more important.

LakesLover · 29/05/2019 18:37

Oh that is good!
No real advice on what to offer but considering they bought it for 168k a year ago (when it was brand new and thus at a preimium), I'd say 165k tops?
Also, any inkling why they are moving so fast?

houseymchouse · 29/05/2019 18:40

I asked him, and he said he broke up with his girlfriend and wants to move back to where he used to live.

Hi. To be honest the road would put me off. Lots of HGV's use this route as it's good access to M1 through the Peak District from Manchester. Lots of lorries going to nearby quarries too.
If you're looking for terraces how about this?

Market Street, New Mills, High Peak, Derbyshire,

Next small town out travelling into countryside with train links to m/c

Or this?
Buxton Old Road, Disley, Stockport, SK12

@Fourfantasticfrogs the top one has no parking with double yellows on the road :( it's gorgeous though!

Gah! Sorry. Just thought it looked pretty Smile

houseymchouse · 29/05/2019 19:32

Would you offer 168?

OP posts:
Pipandmum · 29/05/2019 19:37

I’d start at £165k

Arnoldthecat · 29/05/2019 20:27

I know the area quite well. As you say, its convenient for the railway, parks and other stuff. As you know though the daytime traffic outside is grim though it does quieten later and weekends.

I think its well over priced and i wouldnt pay it. Trouble is, if you dont pay it eventually someone else will. You have to set your own boundaries.

Have you considered a new home ?

''The A6 can be pretty busy'' has got to be the biggest understatement of the year!

I also think it's overpriced, I wouldn't be happy paying any more than £155k-£160k for it

wowfudge · 30/05/2019 07:44

@Houseymchouse the house on Market Street, New Mills has only a single yellow line outside it - no parking between 8am - 6pm Mon-Sat. There are places with no parking restrictions nearby.
