Are imprinted concrete drives slippery?

We are finally getting our front garden/drive done ( after a house restoration) and I'm running out of enthusiasm.... I'm looking at a mixture of Tarmac and block paved edges with mixed planted borders other half likes this idea of imprinted concrete. ( we can't afford full block paving as it's a large area and moneys a bit tight after the rest of the house ) gravel isn't an option for us due to needing wheelchair access.
I'm sure I've heard that the concrete can be slippery and this is an issue as I have mobility problems, I've asked a couple of companies that lay it and they claim it isn't ( but they would say that I guess as they want to get the contract lol)
I would really appreciate honest opinions if you have it. Would you have it again? is it easy to maintain? etc etc
Thanks for your help with this

Slipped on my friends 3 times, slippery as hell!
She's slipped loads and so have her children/husband/dog!

Why not have brick or stone paths for wheelchair, surrounded by gravel?

I agree with the PP. I'd pave the main drive for the car and wheelchair access to the house and then use gravel for the rest.

Thanks everyone, the sort of thing we are thinking is a bit like this so the tarmac for walking and parking 2 cars but access right round them and still have flower/shrub beds etc. We have a large unpaved back garden so plenty of rainfall collection and wildlife area. I am aware of the impact of people tarmacking gardens etc but sometimes for safe level access it's the only way forwards. We will make sure the areas planted are wildlife friendly.

Now we have to find approved contractors and apply to get the kerb dropping permission Smile
