How would you decorate a tiny toilet room?

I was on the loo earlier and the toilet roll holder fell off the wall Hmm it’s been there since the 70s so lasted quite well!

Once I took the screws out I then took the brass towel holder off the wall. Then found myself picking at the lino to see how stuck down it was.

I’ve now gutted the entire toilet room and I’m going to decorate it tomorrow. It’s a rental but they are happy for me to decorate however (since they don’t want to)

So: rectangle 170cm x 80cm. Tiny little frosted window so not much natural light. Tiled all the way round halfway up the wall (stained cream with faded flowers). Ceiling was in an awful shape with paint peeling so I’ve removed 98% of the paint on the ceiling by peeling it off, just a few stubborn bits to sand down. Lino I’ve pulled up and I’m going to replace. I’m hoping (maybe not possible) to paint the walls/ceiling, tiles and put flooring down in one day Blush not sure if that’s doable or not but it’s a tiny room.

What colours etc would you go for if you had to do it right now?

I'm in a similar situation with a tiny, windowless downstairs toilet in my rental property, and I have a terrible desire to paint it a dark colour. My bathroom is much smaller than the picture attached but I think a lovely blue/grey with nice white picture frames to bring the colour up.

I like really bold wallpaper in a cloakroom, something with a large pattern, but this may not be doable for you as it's a rental. Failing that I think I would go for white all over, and have colourful accessories. You can't really go wrong with this, and if the light level is low it will brighten it up (and no one could possibly object to it either), If there's a basin a bright hand towel for example. Is there room for a picture, and would you be allowed to hang one?

My friend has similar - under the stairs, no window. She's changed the lights to bright white LED, painted the whole lot white, there's a mirror over the sink and one opposite, the opposite one has a bright lime green frame, lime green accessories everywhere eg she's added a couple of shelves in lime green, and lime hand towels. Now looks bright and cheerful rather than dingy.

We once had a house with a tiny loo. The previous owner had done it up like a Victorian classroom...pained walls,at the bottom, tiling round the middle, disclosures and patterned wallpaper above. Even the loo and basin were burgundy. It was fab.

We're in a similar situation, planning to go bright blue with white trimmings...

All white (paint the tiles) and one wall in a very bold wall paper.

A mirror as large as possible! This will make it feel a little bigger and less like a coffin.

Ours is 150x80 and we wallpapered ours with kitchen/bathroom type paper in a pinky peach colour with tiles around the sink, floor is the same Lino as the kitchen and small room next to toilet. We have a picture hanging above the toilet.

A good bright light and some reflective tiles - we've got these and they're great for bouncing the light around.
