Howdens kitchen in £950k house

Would a Howdens kitchen in a house valued at £950k be acceptable? Or would you expect a Smallbone kitchen for that.

House is in Bucks.

I'm nowhere near to be spending that much on a house, but even if I was I don't think it would occur to me to ask the make of the kitchen. As long as it looks nice and everything works then I don't see it being an issue.

Our house is more expensive than that and we have a DIY kitchen (admittedly top of the range with bespoke elements). However, had the queue at Ikea been shorter, we probably would have got a kitchen there. And we're house proud with a very plush interior.

Stealth boast

It's really about the quality of design. 2 pics of kitchens with Ikea units included to illustrate the point.

I asked a similar question on here a while back (different name).

Lots of snipey comments (yawn!) but in the end I put cheap units in a v expensive house. I did spend on appliances, quartz and floor but I'm delighted with the result.

We have the second kitchen. I love it. We have neff appliances. The units come built. We don’t live in a 950k house but don’t see why it would be a problem if you like it.

My husband swears by DIY Kitchens. He put it one into his very expensive London house over 10 years ago with natural stone worktops and it looked as good as new when we moved out. We live in a not insignificant house now that we built 3 years ago. We had the kitchen handmade and it’s awful - drawers not shutting properly, doors dropped and chipped everywhere. We’re going to have to replace it and are going to go for the DIY Kitchens option which will cost a fraction of the original, but with the nice work tops, hope it’ll last.

I put expensive units in a cheap house and so far have been left alone by the kitchen police.

Just choose the kitchen you want and can afford and no one will give a rats ass if it's Howdens or Smallbone.

If someone's paying that much for a house chances are whatever kitchen it was they'd put a new one in anyway.

A friend is very high end interior designer- in her own places she has one up, lived in and sold, she always puts in Howdens kitchens- but not their appliances or worktops, she goes higher end for those.
