Anyone had to change taps in a Redrow home?

Our house is currently let out as we can’t live in it. The kitchen tap has apparently been dripping badly, so a plumber has been out and the tap needs to be replaced. He has sourced like-for-like and it is £500 - just for the tap, not labour! My letting agent pushed for a cheaper option but the best he could find was still £300.

Does this sound realistic?? I know they’re known to have a nice finish, but surely Redrow aren’t putting £500 taps in their homes?! House is under 3 years old.

£500 for a tap, that's just ridiculous. Any tap would do, surely. Out of interest, why can't you live in the property?

Ha ha!

If you could provide some photos of the tap, we could look for a replacement.

I expect it is some fancy stylish import, perhaps there is a whimsical design of sink or worktop that makes it difficult to fit.

Next time, buy a Bristan.

Sorry.

We have a Redrow home. From our experience everything they used was cheap but not quite standard. So when we had a dripping tap we couldn’t get a replacement washer and had to get a new tap. However, we hated the bathroom so much we ended up with a new bathroom suite Shock

Don’t have a pic as we’ve never actually lived there. My husband’s job requires us to move around often, so it’s our house for when we stop moving.

It’s the kitchen tap. I might ask the letting agent to try another plumber...

it's possible, of course, that the agent and the plumber have an "understanding" and that all your charges for services will be a bit on the high side.

Christ be cheaper to replace the whole sink and tap if you cant find a tap to fit the replacement.

Why does it have to be like for like? I think I’d start a gain with another plumber. Tell him to replace the tap with another tap that doesn’t cost £500.
