DIY Kitchens pull out larders etc

Just pondering how to fill the space in my new kitchen and looking at larder units. I’ve had a few people say they aren’t worth the extra money as they’re prone to breaking but I’m tempted by the easy access to stuff.

Has anyone got one from DIY kitchens? How have you found the quality/durability?

Can't comment on larder units as we have more cupboards than we know what to do with! But have you considered in-unit bins to fill up space? They're the absolute best.

One of those bins is in my basket Spoonblender! I’ll definitely have larder units on the wall I’m thinking about, it’s just whether to get one with just shelves (cheaper, fewer moving parts to break) or get pull out units which seem to make everything more accessible but I’m a little concerned about the durability of. I just don’t want things forever coming off runners or being difficult to open because they’ve bent or broken a bit. But at the same time, I’m terrible for thinking I don’t have something and buying more then discovering that I have about 10 packets of it in the back of the cupboard which went out of date 8 years ago.

I don't have any experience of these, but I do of metal pull out cupboards from other companies and experienced exactly how you describe - I swore I wouln't have them again! I have jsut completed our kitchen and I have a fab larder with just shelves - but I have invested in baskets, so I have categorised everything and can easily slide the basket out to see what we have.

DIYK also do a nice larder cupboard with plastic shelves at the bottom - I saw them in person last week and loved them. We are having one unit with those and one with just shelves.

We have a basic wire frame larder unit - just shelving but not from DIY kitchens. It's useful but you need to treat it gently - no yanking!

My DIYkitchens units (I got six of the five-drawers types) from 2013 are still gliding smoothly and have given me no trouble at all, so drawer durability seems fine. So much better than cupboards, all my pots and pans and trays and spatulas and spoons go in them. If you can handle the price go for it.

I've got one with shelves st the top and pull out drawers at the bottom! It's great, holds loads.

Hmm, yes, I like these drawers in cupboards- think they look like the same drawers as the pan drawers? My current kitchen has 3 drawers and 3 standard cupboards so this is all very exciting!

Can confirm - just compared to my drawers with individual doors to the pics from TD and they look like the same drawer mechanisms, so they'll be good.

My friend has one of the cupboards with drawers in and it’s fab.

We’ve got under counter pull out things - a bin & a 300 unit. It’s great & fits loads, very strong etc but I didn’t want a full height one as another friend’s (non diy one) had become v wobbly over time.

Just make sure there is enough light to see what's in there! We had theses in a rental in Belgium and I needed a torch in the evening to see where the rice was, as the kitchen lighting was so dire.

We have a DIY Kitchens extra tall pullout larder with wire shelves and it is brilliant, I love it. Opens smoothly, have no problems with it.
