Solicitors secure email.

The secure email system will not allow me access. The solicitors IT bloke can't sort it out, so I have had to sign a form saying that I opt out of the system and just use normal email. How much personal data is in conveyancing emails?

Having read threads about buyers being duped to paying money to fraudsters thinking they were the solicitors, then I would ask for the technical requirements for their system and see if you can fix whatever is wrong at your end to use it: could be the browser you are using is not compatible, or you need a certain version of flash player or java, etc.

If you've already done this then if you get anything purporting to be from the solicitors asking you to transfer deposit monies do not pay until you have spoken to someone at the firm to verify the details.

Could you set up your own email address just for the solicitor to contact you? Don't use it for anything else, don't give it to anyone and it should be pretty off the radar for spam/fraud.

Second the calling to confirm payments/account details etc!

Having watched rip off britain this morning about exactly this she lost £90000 as she sent the money to a scammer and not her solicitor we are talking about when ours is completed about getting a bankers draft from our bank and using this to pay ours as we are cash buyers, but after next tuesday there will be more checks in place, before you transfer any money get the bank in person in branch to check the name of the recipient that should match your name on your paperwork

Our solicitors will only send you their bank details by post. They'll send you the details of what you need to pay in an email but their financial details are in letter form and all their communications say that they will never give their details electronically. What are yours doing to prevent fraud?

how far are you in the process.
if fairly early on I would change solicitors as they can't seem to be able to provide adequate services.

In our firm we will ask you to provide a bank statement, not a printed one from home showing the account that you want us to pay money into. Once that statement is in place that’s it, no changes and certainly not by email.

We will write to you with our account details if you are paying us direct.
