How much did your wood burner cost to install?

Just trying to budget for potential bits in the house.
If anyone doesn’t mind sharing, please could you let me know how much your log burner cost to install?
We would be looking at a 5kw defra stove. Already have a chimney breast which will need lining as it’s a Victorian house

We did ours in a day and it cost in the region of $300

The cost tends to be from the chimney lining. In my experience it can be as much as or more than the stove itself. Height of the house is obviously a factor. Some years ago now I think our 1920s house that needed chimney lining was around £1800 plus the stove cost (around £500 I think), but that was in London.
Bear in mind also it can be cheaper to get the work done in spring/summer than autumn winter when more people think about it.

You’ll also have to factor in a bit of building work and making good the opening and installing a hearth.

in south wales - cost of small stove, widening grate, lining chimney and tiles for opening (floor only) was around £1900.00. We have a wooden beam used for mantelpiece but my DH installed that. Small victorian cottage so chimney not very long

We're in North Yorks - we paid about 3k for everything, including i think about 1 k for stove. We had to have hole knocked in chimney breast, everything fitted, chimney lined, tiled hearth, beautiful oak mantel, and everything plastered as well.

i wish I could remember, it was loads anyway, the scaffolding alone was £400 to get the liner down the chimney and fix a broken chimney stack as nobody will go up ladders anymore. The woodburner was around £2000 and it cost almost £2000 for the fitting so not cheap.
My friend down the road had one put in without a liner as the chimney was in excellent shape but I'm not really happy about that after hearing about how a chimney fire is put out - by high pressure hose from the top Shock

My recent quote was £3.5k plus vat including the burner, hearth and flue (going through the wall and up the outside of a single story building)

You may need to add log storage to the total budget.

Cloudtree · 21/05/2019 11:49

and logs themselves are ridiculously expensive..

We burn wood as our only source of heat. We burn approximately 8 fork lift truck pallets stacked 4ft high. Per year, it takes us about 2 weeks each year to cut and process 7 trees.
