Renting - is it still all about location??

I'll try to be brief!
We're currently renting a 3 bed semi, with 2 off road parking spaces and a decent garden. Looking to move to the next town over in order to be in catchment for the senior schools we like, (daughter in yr 5 currently).
The town is a typical 'naice' SE commuter town - so no really crappy parts, but some parts obviously more desirable than others. With our budget we can afford either:
A) 2 bed cottage in a lovely area. Villagey feel, lots of green space. No parking/garage and on-street parking limited, (we have 2 cars). Small garden.
Or:
B) 3 bed semi in a slightly 'rougher' part of town. 2 reception rooms, garage, driveway parking and big garden. On an A road, but set back and slightly elevated.

The rent is the same. I'm really torn, but I'm leaning towards more space/no parking issues. DH is no help, he doesn't want to live anywhere 'tiny' and gets really het up about parking, but then whines that he doesn't want to live in a 'shit' area either!
(Note: the 'shit' area isn't really shit, just not considered quite as 'naice' as the villagey bit).
Opinions welcomed!!
Ps. Both areas are within catchment for the schools, so can't even narrow it down that way!
Pps. There's only the 3 of us.

If it genuinely is still a nice area, just not 'naice', I would go for B.

We are renting in between buying, and have gone for a 3 bedroom for 3 of us plus dog, but with no off street parking, and we are struggling. The daily wonder whether you are going to get parked, single reception room, so no space for general stuff, a street that is nice, nice neighbours, but not where we would choose to buy. We have lasted 18 months, and currently trying to move on, it's not just our home.

I agree with PP, knowing parking is limited and you have to cars, go with B. It's stressful not knowing if you're going to get parked anywhere near your house, better social space, it seems to tick the boxes better

Thank you both - you've both said what I was thinking! I don't get home at night until around 8.00, and the thought of having to trawl around narrow streets for ages, searching for a space is not a particularly nice one. I think we need to concentrate on area B.
