Am I being too fussy? Edging/trim on tiled niche

We're currently having the bathroom done and we're having tiled niches above bath and in shower. In my head/Pinterest board it looks like the photo attached but the tiler says this isn't possible with the porcelain tiles we've chosen and we have to have a trim on the outer edge in either white plastic or metal. Do u think I should go for metal (brushed steel) and paint it out or just have the metal edging trim and stop being so fussy???

There's a bigger choice than just white or metal.
Our bathroom is fully tiled including window recesses. We have a cream edging trim that tones in with the tiles, also cream grout.

Ooo that's good to know thanks - I'll ask him about different colours!

Cream tiles, cream edge, cream grout.

Mine boldly attempted what you spotted on Pinterest in ceramic. I can report back that it does indeed look shit. Nearly 2 years later and his promised fix is yet to materialise...

I originally wanted metal trim but fitter recommended toning it in instead. Very happy with the result.
We have contrast tiles behind the bath and the shower so I wanted the rest to be plain

if you do have trim, I strongly recommend the metal one (available in various colours).

Plastic trim is available, but if it ever cracks or gets scratched, you can't renew it without taking the tiles off. It isn't very durable.

As far as I can see, the trim has overtaken previous practice of using a tile with a glazed edge on show, and probably looks better. Grout on shelves and sills tends to get grubby, so use a darker colour, not white.

We have a metal edge that looks like metal and I really dislike (we didn't put it in!) - I don't mind the finished look of having the edging, but in future would definitely tone the edge with the tile.

Thanks everyone - I've managed to find a coordinating metal trim so I feel much better about it now! Grin
