Installing dishwasher

OK so this might be a stupid question but I've never done this before.

I want to buy a slimline dishwasher and have found one I like. I think it will fit where there is currently a cupboard in the kitchen near the sink.

Who do I need to contact to install it? I'm guessing the cupboard needs to be removed or cut through in some way and then the thing plumbed in, can a plumber do all this?

So can I just buy a dishwasher and then call a plumber? Or do I need someone else as well?

Apologies if this sounds dumb, I've only ever lived in rentals before so never had to have anything installed.

I'd call a locally recommended plumber and ask them to have a look before you buy. They can then check it's possible and give you a quote. If lots of new pipe work needs doing, you can then decide if it's worth it

My DH has just done this himself in our kitchen. Removed a bank of drawers and then installed the dishwasher. Got the connections from B&Q, and took him about two hours.

I installed mine myself. It's a doddle.

I did mine myself, including cutting into the water pipe for a new connection. Was quite scary that part!

There are loads of YouTube videos, you can totally do this yourself.

Surely they’ll only do this if there’s one already in place so it’s just a case of swapping old for new? They’re not going to remove a cupboard and install the necessary plumbing as part of the service.
