Side return extension in Leyton

Hi,
We have been living in our 3 bed end of terrace victorian for about 3 years. The previous owners added a 4.5m long by 3m wide extension onto the back, separated from the main house by double doors. About a year ago we knocked through to leave us a (approx.) 8.5 x3m kitchen/diner/living room. We refurbished the entire space including a new kitchen but I was unable to convince the wife that we should add a side return extension while we were at it(see pictures - floorplan diagram is of the house before we did any work)

Now, with a little one on the scene, she has come round to realising that although we have a lot of space it is very narrow and not really fit for purpose (can only get 3 round the telly, nowhere for DD to play.)
Having spent a fair amount on the refurbishment/new kitchen we want to keep as much as possible as it is (strict order from the wife: "You cannot touch any of the kitchen cabinets etc."). We are looking to do an infill side return extension from the back up to a metre from the edge of where the original downstairs bathroom (now utility/WC) is. This would leave us a small courtyard about 2m long by 1.5m wide for a herb garden etc. with the rest "filled in".
Can anyone recommend some reasonably priced builders to do the work? We don't want to use the builders who did the original work (too many cut corners have been noticed in the 18 months or so since they finished the work) and budget is tight. Seen so many horror stories and cannot trust mybuilder etc.
Please help :-)

I'm sure you know this but be careful with builder recommendations from LL - half of them are people recommending their husband/cousin/friend. Always make sure they are an actual customer and go to view the work they've done if you can. Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs.

My experience is that quotes are more expensive than you may expect. I also found that builders wouldn't take me seriously until I had a structural engineer calculate the steels.

Obviously don't use build team!
