Adding a porch questions

So we are thinking about turning our access to the house into a porch. This would hopefully help our downstairs stay lots warmer as currently in winter the hall is very cold. It would also give us a little more storage for shoes etc. We already have the foundation in place because there is a porch area there it's just open to the elements. So the work would involve installation of a door and window. Do you end up with two external doors? Or should the first door be an external door and the second a normal internal door? What do you do about the flooring? It's block paving from our current front door. So no insulation or damp proofing or anything there. Anyone any ideas as to what you normally do?

My parents did this. They have 2 external doors. The original front door and a glass door on the porch. Their area already had tiles down so that's the floor.

If it is a proper build (which sounds like it is), then the piece is the external door. Ur no reason not to keep what you have?

Foundations. Just because you have some there, I wouldn't assume they are suitable and it may be worth the extra money to relay them to up to date standards.

Also, check you dint need planning permission apart from building regs. If your house has already been extended then a small porch can still require plans and planning

Good luck

Has to be an external door into the house.
If you are finding the hall is cold and it's due the existing door, the best solution is to repair or replace that door. The standards for external doors are very high nowadays.
Regarding foundations you would really need it all detailed properly and it would be best to insulate and damp proof it to stop it becoming a damp, cold condensation trap.
