Fitting flooring with fire doors...

Hi, I am hoping someone might have some experience of this... I am buying a new build and therefore it will have fire doors fitted as standard. It's a townhouse and I want carpet in the top floor bedroom but don't want the builders' carpets, I don't like any of them! I understand that if I get the carpet fitted by someone else after moving in I will have to have the door removed and then re-hung by a carpenter as carpet fitters are not too keen on doing this. Does anyone know if this is the case for vinyl flooring as well? I was thinking about this for the other 2 bedrooms but the quotes from the builders seem high compared to regular flooring shops. Has anyone been through this? Thanks.

most likely there will be a hardwood threshold fitted under the door. Modern ones are usually quite thick so that carpet can be run up against them (not over the top), and it is not necessary to cut the door.

Try and go to a show house and you will see.

Older ones used to be something like 12-12mm thick, but modern ones are more than that, like a little wooden ramp about the same width as the depth of the door lining (frame).

I suppose that if the housebuilders had planned to carpet the new flat throughout with matching carpet, they might have planned to omit the thresholds and save themselves a few pounds.

Ok, thank you, that makes a bit more sense now. So with any luck it shouldn't involve removing and rehanging all the doors. There is no show home built yet but I will go and see as soon as it's ready. Thanks!
