Using a very deep storage space

I'm having an en suite fitted above the stairs, all good but there will be a big storage space above the toilet and I'm trying to think of the best way to use it. It's at least 1m deep and then 1.5-2m high. Big plastic boxes would be suitable but I wondered if there was something a bit more permanent. Best thing would be if we could have winter/summer clothes stored at the back somewhere and towels and bedding more easily accessible at the front. Anyone have any ideas?

On reflection, I wonder if a cabinet with storage inside the door/doors would be an option? But would have to be careful that it can take the weight.

will you need steps to get things out? If so. light objects such as bog rolls and towels would be safer than axes, anvils, bleach etc that might fall on you.

Is there any way of getting a separate access to the back of the space eg from your bedroom? so you get two smaller spaces each with their own door?

If not - it might be worth a look at magic corner fittings for kitchen cabinets as they are designed to allow better use of deep/inaccessible spaces. Quite pricey though

It probably would be possible to knock through, I need that bit of wall space really though. Magic corner is a good idea if I can find a suitable size! Although only really needs something I can pull out from the back to the front rather than getting around a corner.

I shouldn't need steps to get to the back as managed to reach what we had in the previous set up, it just wasn't the best use of the space, toilet might just make it a little more difficult. We had one of the 2x2 ikea kallax units with drawers, with two big storage boxes full of random clutter in the front that were annoying to remove every time I needed to get in there. Another idea I've had was maybe some drawers in the back that aren't too hard to reach for out of season clothes, then a clothes rail in front with some of those fabric hanging storage things for towels, loo rolls and bedding that we can reach through. If I can get storage on the inside of the door as well that'd give 3 levels to it. There will probably still be some unused at the top but it'd use the depth well. Probably not describing it very well but I can picture how it'll fit!

What about the fittings you can get in ikea for the utility etc , they have pull out baskets on rails, might work? Think it's called algot

I was looking at the algot ones today funnily enough! The mesh drawers are 60cm deep so would be a great way to use the space at the back, and then I'm still thinking of putting a rail in front Smile

Try the Pax/Komplement fittings as well, the baskets are pretty deep, and there are large storage boxes/bags that might work well for duvet/loo roll storage
