What survey on a purpose built flat?

I've just had an offer accepted on a flat in a purpose built block, built in 2003. Struggling to decide what kind of survey to obtain.

I was thinking a homebuyers report (from what I gather theres varying levels of this type?) rather than a full structural due to the age of the block. Does that seem sensible? Can a surveyor look at the rest of the block, or are they limited to just the flat?

Will discuss with the conveyancer but wod welcome any thoughts.

Check what maintenance liabilities you will have. If you are responsible for a share of roof then sensible for that to be included in survey.
A basic survey will only give you basic information. It's risk analysis - normally a newer building will have less issues but I surveyed a 5yr old flat last year and found that roof and wall detailing was poorly fitted. My client walked away - scaffold currently in place as remedial works are being done.
Check if there is a maintenance plan for building, any repair works projected for short-term term, etc. The managing agent (via the seller) should have this to hand.
If all this checks out then possibly go for a basic survey.
Also gets quotes for the different types of survey, it may not be a lot extra to get more peace of mind.
