Does anyone else still like watching these? I love them! My favourite are the London ones.

It's soooooo depressing when you watch them and see flats for £200-300k in nice areas, that you know today would cost you £600,700,800k even

It seemed on the programme that home ownership was within the reach of normal people, even in London. Graduates buying themselves a starter flat after a few years.

These days it's impossible.

I also like to see that even in 15 years how much home decor has moved on!

I've been watching programmes like this. Plus the renovations ones. It's interesting, as my husband says, what was once i.e. 15 years ago, 'an innovative use of space' is now a tired old conservatory etc etc.

Basically, what was once new is now old again.

I love watching old LLL! And like you, especially the london ones.

Oh no, this couple are going to have to consider this strange area called 'Clerkenwell' to get a 2 bed loft living apartment with giant roof terrace for £300k

LOL

Yup. Starter flats in ok, central-ish areas were totally affordable to typical london grads 15 years ago. Wages haven't gone up. Prices have (massively).

There has been a huge disconnect between house prices in London and earnings.

I’ve never forgotten sitting in my flat in Hackney and watching Phil and Kirstie pronounce it ‘the worst place to live in Britain’.

That was bollocks, even 15 years ago, but it was sort of affordable. Now... hollow laugh...

I'm watching one right now Grin

Drives my other half mad as I could sit and watch them back to back all day.

My favourite are the London ones too, having never lived there it never ceases to amaze me what people have paid for such seemingly small properties.

I love watching the old ones. My husband and I always sing the old theme song to each other because it was so weird it makes us laugh (the one that went 'doo doo, doo doo, uh come on come on come on come on' over and over again).

I love the London ones too, I don't live there but it is fun to try and 'spend' someone else's money from ten years ago, which then would have bought an amazing Georgian terrace, but now buys a 2 bedroom in an ex council block in some neighborhoods.

I watched an old one and the lady was worried she had missed the boat at getting on the property ladder in London (like 15 years ago) and was having to consider... Stoke Newington! Nightmare! How was she going to get around as not on the tube network?!

Buying on her own, had like a £300k budget for a period 2 bed.

DP reminded me that actually, before KL sorted the bus network out, and there was obvs no smart phone or electronic timetable info - the busses were a bit of a nightmare so living off the train/tube was an issue.

Expect her flat is now worth £750k so she needed have worried about missing the boat Grin

Argh life is not fair! I wonder when the revolt will come Grin
