Woodworm in cottage

My offer on a cottage was accepted. We had a structural survey done, which showed woodworm in the loft. I'm wondering what people's experiences of treating woodworm were like? Did it come back? An additional worry I have is about the chemicals used to treat it. I have complex health problems, one thing in particular is that my nervous system overreacts to certain things. I don't want to have a reaction to the woodworm treatment.
I wouldn't be moving in straight away, so would have time to air it out. I have contacted a company who does the treatment, but waiting for them to get back in touch.
Any advice/opinions welcome Smile

Ive had 2 houses woodwormed and the chemicals they use today are much better than they used to be, however i dont know exactly what they are and whether or not they would affect you. Its good that you could get it done and aired before you move in as that should help.

I would speak to more than one company in your position in case different companies use different chemicals and also to get advice from more than one source.

I would google as well to see what info is out there.

Do you know it’s definitely not been treated? I say that as woodworm holes showed on our survey but our sellers provided certs that had been treated years ago and just the holes remaining so we didn’t need to re-treat

It hasn't been treated. The owners weren't aware, but said they will get it treated. I've told them about my sensitivities and he said the water based treatment is best.
I still haven't heard back from three companies I rang to ask about what chemicals are used.
