Baxi vs worcester??

I would love to hear opinions. We are trying to decide between a baxi 636 (with 7 years warranty) and Worcester 34cdi(with 10 years warranty). The Worcester quote is £500 more. Does anyone have a view they would like to share?

We have a Baxi - our boiler man installs both and whilst the Worcesters are probably a better boiler you get great value for money with the Baxi. We've had ours about 4 years and have had no problems at all.

Had a terrible time with Baxi. No aftercare whatsoever.

DH is gas engineer and says Worcester is worth the extra

Worcester all the way.

Another Worcester vote

Our Baxi has had many problems over the last 9 years. Never again.

Just checked Which?. The best rated boilers are all Worcesters, including your 34cdi model which scores very well. The Baxis have poor scores.

I really would choose a brand with a stainless steel heat exchanger for reliability. Or the Intergas copper hybrid that matches your copper pipes so no corrosion.

Renovirgin2018 · 21/04/2019 07:30

@LondonMischief that is interesting as the engineer said that Baxi use stainless steel but Worcester have started to use plastic. Would you agree with that statement?

I think Baxi Platinum have stainless steel heat exchanger, Baxi tends to a poor rep, not sure if that extends to the higher end boilers. Worcester is aluminium when I last researched this. I am sure there is no plastic, it does not conduct heat.
Personally I would go with a Viessmann.

Worcester (or valiant which also seems very good and of a par with Worcester)

I think the poster whose DH is a gas fitter is probably best informed. Apparently a whole line in the Worcester factory is dedicated to building them for British Gas so says something
