Second hand boiler advice

So we are finally making a move to get a better home but we have a knackered boiler/burner (20+ years) that oh kindly informs me will not last another winter having had it serviced on/off for years some problems along the way it is on its last legs. I imagine any buyer when realising this would ask for a price drop so we are going to replace it now ourselves..anyone have any knowledge of a second hand boiler...a boiler man said as we were thinking of moving he could fit a second hand one which is 8 years old for half the price to keep costs down. Another person says we could have problems with that something about building control? I said to him and he said no building control issues as he isn't.replacing the flue...any advice welcome...in NI

A second hand boiler cannot be gas safe registered so it will cause even more problems.

Just buy a cheap boiler you can pick them up for £500 including the flu

DH is a gas safe registered engineer

It's an oil boiler and a new one costs £2k?

Ah I see thought was a combi. Apologies!

In that case DH says same rules usually apply but you could get a second hand one and hope either the new buyers dont notice, or worst case scenario you'll have to pay an indemnity insurance on it as well.
