You thought my radiator was bad?... Brace yourself Nelly

I will be "asking" for this to be ripped out and an alternative sorted.

We have a couple of inches gap between our bath and wall. The bathroom fitters suggested tiling it so that any water runs back into the bath.

This dear reader is the result...

Pics in below posts as I can't load them on this post.

Go on then

TheDarkOverload · 05/04/2019 13:03

I'm trying! I can't get the photos up.

Just so you know, I originally took the photos in the bath this morning. Then just as I was about to upload them, I realised how reflective the fittings were! You will never know how close you were to seeing my wet naked torso squatting!

It won't work.

I'll try again later. Needless to say it's a mess and anyone will any pride in their work would be ashamed.

I didn't know whether to post the pics but they won't see them on here and even if they did, if they were happy with the work, they wouldn't care.

Once again, they came highly recommended to us by a few people. We obviously slighted them in a previous life.

Until I can get the other photos to load, here is a picture of my toilet in the meantime.

They put levelling solution down (whole other story about lack of attention/care) so we shouldn't even have needed those red and yellow riser things to stop the toilet wobbling but apparently the fitters thought they'd make a feature of them by using clear silicone all around the bottom of the toilet.

I especially like the way they included the dirt and dust in the silicone and apparently rubbed it back and forth with their foot to give it an intetesting textured appearance. Alas I could not get a good picture of that.

I'll try and post the "bath ledge" pics later.

Oh dear. Fire this lot.

The toilet is not good at all. Place marking for the photos of the bath.

TheDarkOverload · 05/04/2019 15:44

Woohoo. Photos are working. So first off, I came home to this... They have added tiles to where the radiator pipes come put of the side of the bath.

He had arranged to meet me today but hasn't turned up. We will not be giving him any more money until he sorts everything out. I don't care what my husband says.

We can't afford to get someone else in to fix everything he's messed up :(

I know it's only a bathroom but it's actually really upsetting. It's the first room we've had people in to do and I was really looking forward to having a professional bathroom.

Anyway. More photos below.

I've just texted him "sorry to you weren't able to meet up today. When will you be available? We need to catch up before you do any more work on the bathroom".

He will need to work around me though. I left work early today to accommodate him.

They tiled over the gap but for some reason stuck edging on it which has made the tiles stand proud maybe 2cm. They seemed to forget we had taps (already in place) and have put the edging right next to them but they couldn't get that even because one tap has the edging touching, the other doesn't. They have forced silicone between the taps and edging and it is an absolute mess.

Seriously, these people need their silicone guns removed from them.

Even with the silicone there are gaps between the bath and edging for water to get in.

I just have no words for the corners. Even ignoring the complete mess they've made of the one by the tiles, it's not level so water actually runs towards the back corner. That and the gap between the bath makes the whole monstrosity completely useless.

Sorry for all the posts, I think the mumsnet site can't bring itself to publish the photos.

The mitred edge is special I think. I've already cut myself on it. Just so you know, the gap is because of the bath rather than them but you can see how they dealt with that in the photo above (hint: stuff a load of grout in).

Oh ny god. I could do a better DIY job than that. They just don't have the skills. I'd be looking for someone else - you'll never get a good finish out of these people

TheDarkOverload · 05/04/2019 16:06

Beautiful.

They should have built a false wall in the bring the whole wall forwards to meet the bath before tiling. We did this in our kitchen as the wall was wonky, to make our cupboards all fit square.

TheDarkOverload · 05/04/2019 16:09

Can you even see the pictures? They aren't showing on my phone.

Yeah I can. They are astonishingly bad.

TheDarkOverload · 05/04/2019 16:14

There is a false wall. Well sort of, they batonned out to fix insulation which why there was no reason whatsoever for not hiding the pipes as we asked.

The insulation has already noticeably shrunk the room and in fairness, my husband ordered the bath based on estimated room sizing.

SinkyMalinks · 05/04/2019 16:16

Can see them. I have no words. My bath edging looks better and it was literally my first ever go with a silicon gun.

Knittedfairies · 05/04/2019 16:17

That's appalling. I'm pretty sure I could do it that badly...

TheDarkOverload · 05/04/2019 16:17

Can I get your thoughts on this. This is outside. We moved the sink so he has removed the outflow pipe and stuck a gap on it. My husband agreed to this.Hmm It's not unreasonable for me to have them redo it by replacing the bit of pipe with just a straight bit? There are fittings on either side of it.

*cap.
I just think capping it is lazy work.

OP posts:
Justonemorepancake · 05/04/2019 16:19

That is lazy. Remove your husband from his involvement in this! His standards are too low!

TheDarkOverload · 05/04/2019 16:20

Just got a text reply. He got held up and is on his way.

Wish me assertive luck.

I'm an enthusiastic, although not especially competent DIY'er and I put my own bathroom in.

I'm sad to say my bathroom fitting skills are above whoever is putting yours in. It just isn't a professional job. Nothing lines up as it should, they've done everything as quickly as possible and nothing particularly well.
