How high can you fit a boiler?

We are renovating our kitchen and will be installing a megaflo and a new system boiler as part of it.

Ideally, I'd like to have the megaflo in a floor to ceiling cupboard with the boiler fitted above it. But obviously the boiler will still need to be accessible for servicing etc. I don't know how much space you need to have between the top of the megaflo and the bottom of the boiler, but the megaflo will be either 1486mm or 1738mm high (depending on what works in practice!). We haven't decided in which boiler yet. Our ceiling height is 2420mm.

Does anyone know how high you can fit a boiler and whether it being above a hot water cylinder creates access problems for servicing?

Looking at the dimensions and clearance requirements, we're going to have to go for the shorter cylinder. So, is it a problem for a boiler to be mounted at just above 1.5m (pretty standard height I'd have thought) BUT behind a cylinder (so less easily accessible).

Also, megaflo needs to have 250mm clearance at the side for servicing apparently. The diagram on the website shows it needs this at both sides. Obviously, in a cupboard you could take the side panel off if necessary but I'd prefer to avoid having to do that. Does anyone know if it needs this clearance on each side or just one?

Why dont you ask the plumber who is going to do the work?

Because we don't have one yet - I'm in the early stages of thinking about kitchen design and am trying to work out whether they will all fit in one cupboard.

Also, one plumber may be happy to service a boiler in that position and others not - I just want to get a feel of whether this is a completely stupid set up or not.

We had a boiler installed next to our hot water tank in our old place (in our top floor bathroom) when we did it up - there was plenty of space in that area - they were both in a large double door cupboard, side by side and it was easy to access and service. I think if its difficult to access and service you will run into issues.

Thanks @dinkystinky - that is my concern. I really don't want to fit them side by side if I can avoid it, as we just don't have the spare space.

I don't know if the boiler will be particularly difficult to access if it's above the tank though... that is what I'm asking if anyone knows!

Best bet is to ask a plumber to quote for the job and ask them the question. We found our boiler/hot water cupboard quite handy for stalling tall things we wanted out of sight (ladders, mop etc) but appreciate if space is at a premium you'd value the extra space more.
