Can anyone recommend where to buy skirtings?

Hi. I'm looking at skirtings and architraves for our 1930s semi. They say the devil is in the detail so this feels like a big decision! Can anyone recommend a style that would suit a 1930s semi? I'm thinking tall with pretty detail.

Timber yard. I like Lavers. You can pick your own pieces that aren’t bent or damaged or full of knots. The prices are much better than if you were to buy online. Cost up the entire amount needed and haggle.

Buy mdf unless wanting to vanish wood. I bought solid pine and it warps a little, shrinks a bit, and is a lot softer than mdf skirting so dents when knocked. If you are painting then mdf is much easier to live with.

I keep getting targeted ads for a place called Skirtings4U. We have just done some work on our house and I ended up just getting the skirtings in a bit of a panic from the local timber yard. But I clicked on the ad one day and they have loads of styles and look really good. But more expensive but if you don’t need loads it’s still not that much.

My sister just did a 1930s semi up and they bought ordinary skirting but turned it over and upside down so it’s completley plain and just a right angle, no pattern etc. It looks really good and really suits the house.

If you are fitting it yourself make sure you buy extra in case of lots of mistakes! Three quarters of the way through is not a good time to discover you've run out and they discontinued that shape Sad
