Please please help me bring my kitchen colour scheme together. I have messed up...

So, after a month of dithering and so many matchpots I chose my kitchen colour scheme.

The kitchen started to go in last week. The cooker arrived today. I love both colours but they don't go!!! They need a tile and a work surface to bring them together.

I have mostly Shaded White units, with a larder cupboard and sink unit in Hague Blue.

My cooker (And all small appliaces) is cream.

I phoned Farrow and Ball and they suggested maybe a very dark tile. I was originally going to have a pale cream.

I am having granite or quartzstone work surfaces. Again, was going to have a off white.

I spent so much time and effort getting it right, but in real life it doesn't quite go. Aaaah!!!!

I think the units and cooker could be brought together but I need help.

Thanks so much.

Thanks so much for the replies! They didn't show up on my 'I'mOn' thing hence why I have not replied!

I can't return the cooker, they are handmade to order! Also, all my accessories I already have are cream as I had a cream cooker in my old house. That is why I chose cream over my 2nd choice which was blue.

Also the units can't be repainted without huge expense which I haven't got now. Every penny has gone!

Oak work tops were my first choice actually but I was talked out of them by both the fitter and the builder!

So

No tiles anywhere?

What about behind the sink? If so, cream or white plain ones just there?

Do I not need a splashback behind the cooker?

I have been thinking of just going with white so the cooker stands out, ie ignore the colour of the cooker as someone suggested.

The Hague Blue is on the other side of the kitchen. It is gorgeous and I am wishing I had had all the units painted in it now!

Please please help me bring my kitchen colour scheme together. I have messed up...

I don't know about agas but someone upthread said you don't need tiles behind them, don't the big lids protect the wall?
If you need something behind sink, extend the granite or quartz up.
I still think a bit of hague blue on wall furthest from larder could pull it together.
Try the Dulux online room painter, it's really useful if you want to visualise strong paint colours. It's not much use with pale colors

Lots of Everhot owners (including myself) do not not have anything behind the cooker - the square lid protects the wall perfectly adequately.

Regarding tiles behind the sink, it will depend on whether your sink is for ceremonial use only (i.e. you have a dishwasher) or whether you'll be doing dishes in it every day. We just have an upstand (of our oak worktop).

Do not go for white tiles. That will clash with both the units and the cooker!

I think you should go for oak worktops with upstands, especially if that had been your original choice. Why were you talked out of it? If it's to do with maintenance then do a search on Mumsnet site for Osmo oil. It's been a gamechanger.

A google image search for 'oak worktop oak floor' shows photos lots of people have sucessfully combined the two.

Movinghouseatlast · 07/04/2019 20:40

Yes, people said "too much wood"!

Also that granite lasts forever and you can put hot pans straight on it, which with the Everhot is pretty important. But I love wood!!! I have to have granite now as they have set the units to the height they need to be for granite.

I will follow your advice and have nothing behind the cooker.

Don't know what to do. I have found tiles exactly the same colour as the units which might work behind the sink. In another twist, the sink has oak worktop around it.

Could you go with a grey worktop, like the top of the cooker?

NoHolidaysforyou · 08/04/2019 01:52

I would do:

Cream & silver door knobs for the kitchen unit doors (the accessories for the units can tie in the colours of the Aga). Maybe something like these?

www.etsy.com/uk/listing/451169298/large-selection-of-cream-ceramic-door?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_uk_en_gb_d-craft_supplies_and_tools-other&utm_custom1=kenshoo_clickid&utm_content=go_326236848_20236678248_88512633408_pla-106551294035_m__451169298engb&gclid=CjwKCAjwv6blBRBzEiwAihbM-SXk1k2KRk3C-IZ79oSq48_W4i78RusnDtm0qKiuVBAsk4xIszupUhoCs10QAvD_BwE

Mostly white and a small bit of grey worktop (to tie in the handles of the Aga)? I would just try to balance the white/cream/silver if possible.

NoHolidaysforyou · 08/04/2019 01:57

A cream granite mixed with white might also work ...

Ox136jl · 08/04/2019 02:26

It would be worth joining the Everhot groups on Facebook (not just for this but for your Everhot generally). I think the public one is called Everhot Cookers Discussion group and there’s a closed one called Everhot Appreciation page. People post all the time with this sort of issue and you’ll probably find others with a similar colour scheme who’ll post pictures to give you ideas. (Ours is graphite so can’t help on your main question, sorry, but they are fab)

7salmonswimming · 08/04/2019 03:15

I would go for a worktop that exactly matches your cooker. The oak floor and sink surround are coherent, your cooker and accessories and worktop are coherent. This way, your two shades of blue will stand out.

I would definitely have a splash back. You'll regret it in time. Given the rustic, country look is seems you have, I'd actually go with something totally contrasting but which would bring the whole thing together: glass. Clear glass. At a push, have the wall it goes on painted the exact shade of cream your worktop and cooker are.

pickingdaisies · 08/04/2019 09:00

See, I agree with farrow and ball, if you use a tile the same colour as your Hague blue, the colour difference between oven and units becomes insignificant.

Movinghouseatlast · 08/04/2019 10:41

Yes Farrow and Ball said that when I phoned them.

The problem is that I can't find a Hague Blue tile!

Yes that doesn't help! On at least one wall then? But then it doesn't have to be an exact match, it's the other side of the room. I also think that if you use a granite a bit like that pinky one someone posted, that will also unify your scheme. (I hesitate to say beige, but that sort of colour tone). If you have it as pale as the cooker, that will be another not-quite-white for the eye to contend with.
