I've never done drinks and snacks (they have all had there own and stopped for lunch). Always tip as we have only moved to awkward places, for example, difficult access.

I would leave the kettle out with tea / coffee / milk / sugar etc but no snacks - you could do a packet of biscuits if you feel like it.
Make the first round when they arrive and then tell them that it's all there and they're welcome to help themselves - they'll appreciate the first one in the morning!
If they're anything like our builders/contractors they'll bring flasks and snacks/lunch anyway.

the kettle will be packed as well :o

I packed a box of personal items and necessities for arrival at the new house, the tea making items went in here so I knew where it was!
Or just the packers to pack it last!

They bring their own food/snacks and wanted to get on with the job tbh.

The tip was appreciated though (gave £20 each due to mucking about by vendor and they broke down and built a bunkbed for us).

We tipped our movers - our new house was awkward access so they unloaded from the main van onto transits or Luton's then out into the house. Ime they stop when it suits them and bring their own lunch and drinks. They don't have time to drink cups of tea. Our guys didn't finish unloading until about 7.30pm and their boss brought them fish and chips around 5.30.

Beebumble2 · 01/04/2019 15:39

We had packing and storage with removal to the other house at a later date. The packing took 2 days. The lovely helpful removal men had a great introductory joke about making some tea. ( I can’t remember it)
They a
Appreciated the tea and Marks biscuits, keeping them well watered and fed helps.
We tipped them £10 each after the first packing and the same 3 months later after the unpacking in the new house.

I went to the local Costa drive through & got them coffee/tea & a pack of biscuits

HeddaGarbled · 01/04/2019 15:52

You’ll want a box of emergency supplies to go in the car with you, last thing out of old house, first thing into new house. I’d recommend toilet roll, kitchen roll, bin bags, cleaning sponge and spray, tea towel, everything you need to make yourselves a cup of tea including the kettle.

And yes, I would offer tea and biscuits at least once each end of the move, and tip £10-£20 per person.

wowfudge · 01/04/2019 16:40

I should add that whenever I offered teas and coffees, the guys declined. And it's Lutons, thanks autocorrect.

greenelephantscarf · 01/04/2019 16:50

they will only unload a couple of days later (long distance)

thanks all

We bought a huge tray of subs from subway (only £20) for their lunch. Mixed variety to suit all tastes.

Kept the kettle out and used paper cups.

Gave each one £20 as a tip (4 of them). They worked extremely hard and where very careful with our possessions.

I would hate to have to do their job day in and out.
