Home buyers report

Does anyone know how long a home buyers report survey takes to be carried out?

What do they actually do? I read they won't look behind furniture and things but do they open windows and things? They're coming round tomorrow and I have house cat as o bit worried they'll accidentally let them out!

It depends on how old or what condition your property is in but generally only takes around an hour for a smallish house and half of the time they’ll be outside. On the inside they will look around and use a damp meter. Check for cracks in walls and ceiling and movement in floorboards. They might look inside cupboards, flush toilets and open windows. Switch lights on and off. Inspect the electricity meter. Go in loft or at least put head and shoulders up if full access not possible. Inspect inside garage. Shouldn’t move any large furniture of lift carpets to avoid damage. You might have to keep a close eye on your cat though as they might want to come and go inside and out.

@CoolShoeshine thank you. I've got 2 cats and a 1 year old to keep an eye on. 2 dogs too but my dad is having them round his for the day. Stress!

Small 2 bed semi luckily. 1950s and very good condition so fingers crossed they're not long x

I had someone come round to do a survey on behalf of my buyer. He told me he'd take 2 hours. He took 2hours and 40 minutes and only left when I told him I was going out. I have an average sized 1930s 3 bed house. I have no idea why it took him so bloody long!

I was fuming by the end of it because I couldn't put the baby to sleep, take a shower etc.
