Johnstone's paint matching

So having gone through some "designer" pain testers I've finally decided on a colour from Little Greene for our living room.

I've read about paint matching, looked on trade forums (led me away from F&B) and it's pretty divisive.

Then today, picking up the final sample at the well known trade style paint shop, the guy at the counter said they mix the Little Greene on-site and I'd be better off getting the colour matched Johnstone's trade because the paint is much better.

I wasn't expecting the people who actually sell the paint to say this. Will I know the difference? Is it worth spending double for the "subtlety" and "richness" of colour?

Dh is happy to go high end if I want but he's colour blind and wouldn't notice a jot.

My decorator uses Johnstones to colour match. Last time I had a match for an F&B colour and couldn't tell the difference.

That's really reassuring. I've read some pretty good reviews and equally some not. It's hard to tell which are genuine and eco is just being nit picky!

I’ve recently colour-matched Little Greene, Fired Earth and F&B in Johnstone’s. It still isn’t a cheap option, but the accuracy to the original samples has been excellent and we only needed 2 coats (even with the very dark colours)

I have a Johnstones F&B match for Stiffkey blue in my bedroom. It's perfect.
They have a big list behind the counter with codes on and can instantly match to a name. I wasn't willing to spend £40 on a tin of paint for one wall.

The savings are pretty good. Our local paint shop will do a 5l can of Johnstone's mixed to F&B for about £35. A 5l can of F&B is over £100. I don't think the extra £65+ is worth it, personally.
