Is there anyway to find out which solicitor dealt with a purchase in 2008 (Scotland)

Selling my mum's flat. Hit a wall where the purchaser solicitor wants paperwork that I don't have, as it relates to works carried out before my mum lived there. My mum was a cash buyer and she must have shredded her paperwork, apart from the Deeds which are with my solicitor.

It looks like the sale may well collapse and I assume this will be a reoccurring issue. Aware I'm grasping at straws, but is there any way I can find out which solicitor dealt with a property purchase 11 years ago. I'm fully expecting not, just at total desperation point now!

Would it be something the local council would have. Like proof you had planning or building control permission for alterations?

thanks, my solicitor suggested a Title Indemnity which is the usual way of dealing with this issue apparently. The purchaser's solicitor has refused that and my solicitor is saying there's a pattern of stalling and changing minds of what they actually want. So I'm just going to sit tight and see what happens as if you start the search process you can't then take out the indemnity? or something like that.

Even if you can find the solicitor, they probably won't be able to help for two reasons. Firstly, client confidentiality - your mother isn't their client. Secondly, over 10 years on, the solicitor will probably have shredded the paperwork, especially under the new GDPR regulations, they can only keep paperwork for a time period that they can justify there being a need - 10 years after selling the property, there's unlikely to be a justifiable need for them to keep the paperwork - "on the offchance a future buyer may want something" isn't a justifable reason. The indemnity insurance is the standard way of dealing with this kind of thing.

Thanks all, I'm just going to let my solicitor deal with it, speaking to my solicitor it does sound that it may well be a stalling tactic so I'm going to try and be zen and take a step back. if it all falls through I'll just put it back on the market.
