Plane noise in Wandsworth

I am looking at moving to Wandsworth (just south of East Hill/ Wandsworth Town). Is the plane noise is generally bad there? I went last weekend and was surprised to hear planes a lot... Also any views on it as a family area would also be great!

I've no experience of that area, but I grew up on the flight path of Heathrow and to be honest I never really noticed it (other than twice a day when Concorde flew over, but that was iconic!) - it was just part of life. It was only when people from outside the area commented on it that it became noticeable again.

When the flights are landing from the east they go over Wandsworth into heathrow on final approach. About one every 1.5 mins lands at Heathrow during operating hours. I’m not certain on how often they approach over London vs over Windsor. But anyway - point being when they’re landing in that direction yes you will hear them. As others have said this will probably become background noise

I'm sort of there and only occasionally notice flights but am really aware of them around kew/Twickenham. You see them but they only seem to be noisy if the wind is blowing a certain way.

Google suggests about 70% of the time landings come from the east ( over Wandsworth) and departures leave to the West (over Windsor) at Heathrow

Be aware that Heathrow are currently consulting on changes to the landing patterns so it may well change.

I live in this area (SW11 rather than SW18). Yes there is aeroplane noise (and helicopter noise for us, as we live near the heliport - but I quite like the helicopters!)

However, you hear it less and less as time goes on as it becomes part of the aural landscape around you (if you see what I mean). And overall it's a great area to live in.
