Bathroom tiles continually falling off.

Hello, Can anyone help me with this problem please? I have a row of about 6 tiles just above the bath that continually fall off. When I put them back on, I get rid of the old adhesive on the walls, wash and dry the tiles again removing the grout. Fill the bath up, stick them back on with tile adhesive, regrout them, let them dry and eventually let the bathwater out.I also go round the edges of the bath with sealant also before letting the water out.

They last 2 weeks before falling off again, its very wearing. Can anyone suggest anything else I could do myself please to help them stick. Thanks very much.

What’s the wall you’re tiling onto? If it’s porous have you primed it?

I’m by no means an expert but have just re-tiled our bathroom. This is the stuff we used, you just paint it on the walls:

I wonder if someone applied PVA glue to the wall?

It's water soluble, so anything falls off when it gets damp.

If you are able to clean the grout and adhesive off the tiles, it's probably ordinary stuff, not the waterproof grade intended for bathrooms and showers.

If the wall is smooth then making scratches into the plaster under them tiles can help the adhesive to stick, or ruff up the plaster with course sand paper.

Or as it's only a single line maybe waters getting down behind the back of the tiles, you could try putting a line of sealant along the top of the tile trim.

Also make sure the tiles are completely dry after washing the old adhesive off. The back of tiles can be porous, so if possible leave them a day before sticking them back up.

Thanks all, some great ideas to go on there. I've ordered some tile primer and I will follow all your advise when I stick them back on.X I'll let you know if they stay back on.
