We’ve definitely inherited a damp utility as paint peeling off walls etc. Who are the best companies to employ or any to avoid please?

Firstly you really need to identify the cause of the damp and rectify that.

What is making the walls damp? Could it be a leaking pipe, or guttering not fixed properly? Is there a pathway where the slabs or concrete go right up to the outside wall and when it rains the water soaks in through the bricks?

it could be any number of causes.

It could just be an air brick or extractor fan is needed ....do you have a tumble dryer in there and/or clothes drying? Condensation damp is common in utility rooms. Don't get a company who give 'free survey's' in whatever you do, they will obviously tell you they can fix it for ££££. An independent damp specialist is the way to go, will save you thousands in the long run!
