Which ikea kitchen do you have?

I'm planning mine at the moment and trying to decide on doors/drawer fronts. I love the new navy doors, jarsta but I'm planning a lot of drawers so it won't work. My second choice is lerhyttan but the matt finish plus the black will be too dark for the space. The kallarp in grey/green is nice but I fear faddy.

I'm going to end up with the plane Jane voxtorp, amn't I?

I see why you like the Jarsta! It is beautiful.

Marking place here as I am also in the process of planning my Ikea kitchen but I haven't got the the door type yet. Still playing with the layout and where to put things before I can finalise finishes.

We were going with a lovely blue/grey door but once we had the paint on it didn't work so ended up with off white. I really like that sage green one.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 21/03/2019 11:37

The blue/grey sounds nice. Is it still available do you know? My plan was for off white walls (with clear glassbacks that I can put some of the kids' art behind to give it a bit of life) and coloured unit fronts but if I end up with the pale units I'll have to do something more on the walls.

I like the green right now but I do worry it will date quickly. The navy loos amazing with white to break it up but I'm mixing drawers and cupboards all over the place so it would look very jumbled. It seems to be a new range though, so I wonder if they will be bringing in more options in the next few months. Since we're only starting to plan we might have time if they are.

notyetthere, I love the planner on the ikea site for working out how things fit together. Have you spoken to their designers at all? I've been thinking about this kitchen for 4 years so I think I have it all well worked out at this stage!

We haven't spoken to the planners yet. I have only been thinking about mine for maybe a year but I reckon it might be another year before I can actually do the work as it involved knocking down a wall to create a bigger kitchen and installing a downstairs toilet. We shall be doing the same with new cupboards in the utility room. But I will be popping into store to check the kitchens out and then also see the designers.

I have printed out the design and scribbled all over it with where I will put my knives, cutlery, spices, oven trays, etc... but at the moment I seem to have managed to put everything into one side of the kitchen. The other side still has empty cupboards and drawers. I will probably move the kitchen related items from the utility into this side which should free up space in the utility for a sink, coats/broom-vacuum cleaner/golf equipment cupboards.

I have the Bodbyn grey kitchen. It was fitted 18 months ago and I absolutely love it. I went for all drawers on the bottom apart from the corner cupboard which is a carousel.
I have the tall cupboards on top and we can fit vast amounts of stuff in it. Love it.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 21/03/2019 13:43

Good to know, Gibble. Almost all my lower units will be drawers or pull out baskets behind doors but I need the obligatory stack of 4 drawers for kitchen crap! Do you have the 1m high upper units? They are the ones I'm likely to get too, although I think I have homes for everything already worked out so I might just do one wall high and keep the wall facing the door low so it keeps some space in the room.

I'm impressed that you have so much space left, Notyetthere! We have an utterly useless utility room at the moment but I'm hoping we can salvage some of the current kitchen to install there and make it much more efficient.

We are planning to fit an Ikea kitchen in next few months.

I think we are gonna go for the green kallarp mentioned above.

Im struggling with work tops though.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 21/03/2019 16:53

Isohungy, I'll be looking for photos if you do it before me Grin. I picked up a brochure in ikea which has some nice looking made to measure quartz counter tops. I don't see them online though. Other than that I was thinking about stainless steel but I need to price it.

I have 2 shallow hidden drawers which house my cutlery and cooking utensils and the main drawer underneath them houses my crockery.
The drawers are nice and strong and easily cope with having cast iron lasagne dishes and also comfortably take many many tins.
