What happens after planning permission granted?

Can anyone advise what the process is between obtaining planning permission and starting the build please? We are having a single storey extension with some internal remodelling

Does the architect then produce more detailed plans? Is there usually another charge for this?

Or are the next set of plans produced by structural engineer?

Who produces the plans for building regs? When do I get them involved? Any idea of costs for this?

Feeling totally overwhelmed/confused about the whole process

Yes. The Architect should provide working drawings and then you or the Architect need to get builders to quote for the project. The Architect will engage a Structural Engineer for the beam calcs and submit the required info to Building Control. Speak to your Architect. Yes, they will charge more for this. Have they not given you prices for their work?

Definitely speak to your architect and ask for a detailed plan with the phases and associated costs.

Thanks for both of your help. The architect has said the drawings are detailed enough. She said I need to contact structural engineer was planning permission is granted and she will process the building regulations. I naively thought builders could start day after planning was granted 🙈

Looks like I will have to wait a little longer 😟

It depends what sort of plan you have agreed with the architect. Were they just drawing up plans to get you to the planning permission stage or were they going to project manage the build?
