Heat Reducing Window Film

We have a huge upstairs window which faces the afternoon sun. Last summer it was almost unbearably hot upstairs. So this year we want to purchase some window film to limit gain. However I'm confused by the array of products available.

Has anyone used this film and can recommend it?

You might do better with a blind, which can also cut heat loss and draughts in winter.

Ventian blinds are effective, though perhaps out of fashion now.

Thank you. We have a blind but it doesn't do enough unfortunately

We have used this. My daughters room has a huge window and is south facing. Her room was so hot last summer it was unbearable. It does give the room a slight blue tinge in colour but the change is significant. It still gets hot but no where near as bad.

This was the one we used.

Active Film Mirror, One Way, Solar Control Silver Reflective Window Film Tint 3m x 100cm (40") https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00PAQZQQM/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_pZ.JCbG211W9S

The only thing is that from the outside your window does look strange.

Brilliant, thank you. I was worried that the mirrored ones might reflect and cause problems for the houses opposite. What do you think?

Umm well we do have houses behind us and no one has complained, although we do have gardens between us. I did read some reviews that it had caused reflection onto a lawn and burnt the grass, although we haven't had this issue.
