Porcelain v ceramic floor tiles?

For kitchen, diner, family room.
I know porcelain is harder therefore meant to be better but it's also a LOT dearer.
I assume my current tiles are ceramic (cos builder was a cheapskate) and I've dropped and broken a lot of glassware, mugs and a few casseroles, but haven't cracked a tile.
Do I really have to go for porcelain?

I bought cheap ceramic in the kitchen and have regretted it ever since. Bathroom and hallway are porcelain or stone now. Check out the cost of natural stone on line it's not all as expensive as you would think. I've used limestone a lot and although it need sealing it held up to family life well. If needed I can always grind out minor damage and buff up.

What about vinyl?
I love my Porcelain tiles in bathroom but have been told they may be cold in kitchen.

I’m not a fan of Cermaic tiles as they also cracked in a previous house we had.

We have tiles in this house not sure what they are. But I hate them, they are cold and everything breaks when dropped. I miss my vinyl floor from our last house, it was a mid range one. Things bounced and had been down 10 years without a scratch on it.

We are putting in underfloor heating which is why we were going for tiles

I think you can have underfloor heating with Karndean vinyl tiles

Our porcelain tile broke when dh dropped a bottle of wine on it. It’s a small crack but I still want it up & replaced as we have spares.
