One Shot Drain Unblocker

Has anyone used this on blocked drains in their home without the supervision of a plumber? I’ve got a blockage that someone from DinoRod couldn’t clear cause we have copper pipes. He suggested one shot but it seems to come with a public health warning - is it too risky to pour down myself?

Didn't think you could still buy it!

You can - is that I shouldn’t use it?

Be careful, don't get it on your skin, and have the windows open.

It's basically acid!

I also didn't think it was still available for public purchase.

We’ve used it several times, without plumber supervision. Tis fab and does the job. Make sure you wear gloves and sleeves (though have never actually got any on us) and be super careful of splashes and fumes.

We had to take it off our shelves.... the drive by moped acid attacks used this stuff!

It’s really strong stuff.

It’s the stuff a lot of (insert horrible word) have used on acid attacks. You really do have to wear goggles and gloves to be on safe side!

it will eat rubber seals and any other organic matter so can create leaks on some systems. It can tarnish chrome, stainless, aluminium, enamel etc fixtures so it needs to be poured carefully into the sink/drain

But if using make sure you follow the label and ensure there is as little water in the area you’re pouring it as it reacts and don’t breath in any of the fumes.

I’ve used it with great results and I’m not a plumber but I did most of my own DIY.

If there is already bleach or akaline based unblockers present don’t use until they’re gone.

We have a dodgy drain from our kitchen sink and were advised to use this stuff once every couple of months to keep it flowing. We've used it numerous times without issue.

The other thing to be careful about is too make absolutely sure there is no other drain cleaning product still in the drain. Most other drain cleaners are alkali, while one shot is acidic, so if they mix you'll get a violent reaction. It can literally fountain up into your face.

Thanks for all your advice ! Might stick to something slightly less corrosive...
