Maidenhead - First Time Buyers - Reid Avenue

Hi all, currently looking at buying our first home in the Maidenhead area.

Budget in mind and needing a 3 bed property, we are looking at a couple in the Reid Avenue area.

Can anyone let us know what the area is like? Should we avoid? Estate agents have advised only difference to other areas are the fact there are more flats in the area and the fact that there is a bit more social housing. Can anyone give us a bit of feedback and advise on this part of town. We are living in London so restricted to viewings on weekends and during the afternoon so not had a chance to see the area at night etc.

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm not massively keen on that part of Maidenhead but don't pretend to know much about it. It's walking distance to the station and near shops etc. It's quite near some industrial areas and the a404 and you're right that there is flats and social housing round there. Depends why you're looking specifically there? St Marks area might be another option.

Are you looking at schools too?

Thanks for the feedback. Was originally looking at Cox Green & Furze Platt as advised these were better locations but budget wise seems as though we are short about £30k - £40k short of getting the same is the previously mentioned areas. Will have a look at St Mark’s also.

With regards to schools as LO is 6 we are at the mercy of the local authority as not many schools in Maidenhead with space for in year admissions. OH will be on maternity leave so contemplating travelling back and forth in the meantime if not happy with availability at the time

I used to live in the next road. It is the Larchfield estate and slightly cheaper than other parts of the town for a reason. I would suggest visiting the area at evenings and weekends. St Marks is nicer but more expensive.

Also check parking during the day as that was starting to become a problem. There is a footpath to the station which is convenient if you need it but also handy for commuters who want to avoid a the expensive car parks.

Good luck!
