How to hide overhang through window

Can some collective wisdom help me please. I have a vestibule and I’m about to try to paint the inner door - but for some reason the front of the door is higher than the back - so the wood/putty can be seen through the glass (around 1cm) I’ve tried looking for wood beading that would fit without success. Any ideas??? Trying to attach a photo...

Can we see a photo of the other side.

This is the (dirty/needing painted) other side. It’s solid wood from what i can tell.

A cheap way to sort this is to get a decent angled putty knife and good quality putty and remove the existing with a chisel.

Bevel the new putty and smooth it up the window To cover the black bit. A bit like it is but more putty and at an angle with a crisp finish so it looks bevelled.

Then I'd let it harden and paint it to match the woodwork. You won't be able to tell.

It's looking wrong at the moment I think because the wrong sized glass has been fitted and the putty is poorly applied.

Just seen your second picture, it looks as though it's the right fit from the front, just very badly finished from the back.

Putty sounds like a good solution but I am notoriously messy! With frog tape I can see how it would at least cover it up. Thanks

Is this the right dimensions? B&Q

I'm having trouble finding it on the website, but is this the sort of thing that Richard Burbridge would do?

Thank you - I think that the B&Q beading might stick up above the current wood but I’m going to order some to see if I can make it work/get advice from them. The Richard Burbridge website is making me want to panel everything but haven’t found exactly what I’m looking for.... yet (its huge?!)

Thanks for your help

I think that the problem is that you are looking for a long, thin, breakable piece of wood (beading). It's difficult to find on the internet because it's not really a shippable item!
For window mouldings, the Burbridge website seems to refer you to your local stockist.

Is this what you want? 9mm by 9mm. Glass bead moulding

Movistar · 13/03/2019 08:17

I’ve ordered both so I’m sure one will work - thank you so much.

Good luck with it. This is probably one of those things that stresses you but nobody else notices! Do a decent-enough attempt, fill in the (inevitable) gaps, hide it all with a coat of paint and job's a good 'un.Grin
