Soundproofing Walls

I assumed in order to be able to do this you'd put a whole layer of whatever (foam?) on the existing wall and then replaster over it. Someone told me today they can drill a hole in the wall and inject something into it? Can anyone please advise the best way of doing this, the average cost and whether or not it's worth it? West Midlands.

Thanks x

I was looking into this a few weeks ago due to unreasonable and excessively noisy neighbours and working excessively long shifts.

The cheapest way seems to be to buy soundboard (like plaster board but thicker). The most effective way seems to be to build a stud wall using sound board and fill the gap with rock wool.

I'm going for the cheapest option as I can't afford to lose any more floor space than necessary. Reviews seem promising.

I don't mind spending the money if I have to as long as it works!

We had a stud wall put up, filled with rock wool, then a layer of acoustic plaster board, sound proof foam, and another layer of acoustic plaster board.
It wasn't cheap but it's reduced the noise by 99%. It was worth it as we could hear a pin drop next door!

Muffin - I know this is cheeky but can I ask how much it cost? 🙈

It was two rooms, and one wall in each of those rooms. I guess around 5m per room with higher than average ceiling height but not massively high.
We also had shelves and units built in two alcove at the same time. It was £2k altogether, so probably £1.5k of that was the soundproofing.
