Renting: would no shower be off putting?

I am thinking of renting a room on a Monday to Friday basis (I’m in central London so this is fairly common) but my bathroom only has a bath. I know it’s unusual but I’m just used to it.

Would it put people off renting?

Can you not put a shower in instead of reducing the rent? The rent would cover it, and you'd gain a shower.

Yes it would put me off.

People who rent m-f often stay m-thurs - go home straight from work on the Friday. This alone often means early early starts either the whole week or at least the Friday. To have to share the bathroom (I assume you will still be living there and there is only one bathroom ?) and both run baths just wouldn’t work particularly on the Friday or if they wanted quick shower before going out or going home on Friday. However there’s a really healthy
Market for rooms so you might getnaway with it ?
Can you afford to install wall mounted electric power shower - they aren’t expensive in themselves - the expensive bit is the plumber to install. ?

I suspect it'll rent to someone who has showers at work and maybe would be using them anyway, eg because they'll run to work. But I do think people would expect to pay less.

If you are too skint to install a shower right now, rent to your first tenant as is, and save up the rent to fit one! It won't take long. Then when they move on you can put the rent up.

Sorry to derail but @greenelephantscarf ? Who rinses themselves after a bath? That’s really weird and such a waste of water. When you finish the bath just get out of the bath Confused

HeronLanyon · 09/03/2019 10:08

I rinse predominantly for my hair (wash it whilst bathing) but over time the rinse has become about body too.

greenelephantscarf · 09/03/2019 10:09

buffalo leaving soap residue on the skin is not a good idea, especially with skin issues, like eczema or dry skin.

HeronLanyon · 09/03/2019 10:09

I agree it is wasteful of water - sontoo are baths. My real problem with showers is I am freezing when I get out - they never properly warm me. Must try harder.

Roxyxoxo · 09/03/2019 10:10

Yes, especially a shared bath. Can you get a shower attachment for it? Would pay for itself soon enough!

lastqueenofscotland · 09/03/2019 15:13

I haven’t had a bath in.... 4 years? Would totally put me off

EmmaC78 · 09/03/2019 21:14

I am always in a rush in the morning so literally have 5 mins to get in the shower so not having one would put me off a house/flat.

UnicornsAndLizards · 09/03/2019 22:04

It would definitely put me off. I need a shower to feel awake and ready for my day.
On the very rare occasions I have a bath (to relax and read in it), I then have to have a shower afterwards to rinse myself and wash my hair.
