Is there such a thing as an induction hob with a protective frame AND flexible zones?

I know, fascinating stuff, but I am really struggling to find an induction hob that has a both a protective frame (have read too many stories and review saying they chip easily) and some sort of combinable/flexible zones for cooking with big pans. I can get either or but not both. Siemens, Bosch and Neff do them but not together that I can find.

Is anyone better at searching than me?

@MsMamaNature I could kiss you! They are perfect! Why couldn’t I find them?! I just need to decide if I’m blowing the budget or sticking to it Grin

That AEG one isn't induction, it is ceramic. Not the same thing at all, awful.

As an alternative to having a metal frame you could have it recessed into the worktop so it’s flush. Miele sales person told me that approach would protect against chips as an alternative to having a frame.

The downside is the cut out has to be exactly the size of the hob, so no flexibility if you ever have to replace it. Whereas with a hob that sits proud, the cut out is slightly smaller and hidden so there is more wiggle room to use a slightly different size if you need a new one.

@msrinky Thanks, I spotted that on closer inspection but it did lead me to the AEG website where I found this one www.aeg.co.uk/kitchen/cooking/hobs/induction-hob/ike64450xb/ which has everything and is under £500.

@minipie that would look fabulous. Too many variables, though - this kitchen project is giving me enough anxiety as it is Smile

Thanks everyone for your help Thanks

My kitchen designer strongly advised against recessing a job especially into stone.

Said you get crumbs/food debris down the side which are a huge pain to clean.

I'm on my second kitchen (I moved) with a glass hob on a worktop. Never had any bother with chips/damage.

Current one is Siemens and has metal strip on two sides and a flexi zone. I like it.

Explain these protective frames to me please.
(At least it hasn't got bloody wifi...)

Basically a thin strip of metal round some or all sides of the hob so that if you bash a pan into it, it hits the metal rather than chipping the glass.
