I just want a decent shower!

Background we live in a 300-500 year old cottage. Has a downstairs shower room with electric shower and an upstairs bathroom with no shower.

We wanted to put in a "proper" shower to the downstairs room but as we have no floor cavity for pipes and it's at the other end of the house to the hot water cylinder plumbers say this isn't possible.

Same lack of floor cavity means we probably can't put one in the main bathroom either (steeply sloping ceiling over the bath so can't go there) so nowhere for the waste to run.

Any bright ideas, or what's the least worst electric shower so I don't just get a lukewarm dribble of a shower every day?

What sort of setup do you already have in the shower room? If there’s taps with a hot water supply, then a mixer shower might be the way to go if the water pressures ok.

I replaced my electric shower with a mixer run off the taps supply and it’s one of the best showers I’ve ever had! It is over a bath though, so might not be possible in a cubicle.

Could you have a slightly raised shower unit so the pipes run on top of the existing floor but under the shower? I've seen that done before.

I was going to suggest a plinth for your downstairs shower too.

Sorry I missed there were replies. It's already a raised shower tray downstairs, the water comes straight off the mains for the shower. I'd been told the hot water.pipes for taps weren't wide enough to use for showers?
In the upstairs bathroom we could build a new floor to create a floor cavity but then I'm.not sure the ceiling would be high enough for as shower!
I just wish we could get a plumber to offer some ideas other than sucking their teeth and then never sending me the promised quote!
