Moving soon and thinking of switching to Octopus, what do you reckon? I like the which Best Buy and that they are green. If you think they are good does anyone want to share a referral code so we both get £50? Thanks!

They were absolutely fine for me until I had a problem I needed to contact them about. Really pushed the email option rather than phone, to the point where I was on hold for an age, constantly being told via prerecorded message that email was the better option. It ended up taking a week to sort something that could have been easily remedied in one phone call, because they didn't reply to emails until hours/days later. I was going to take their service with me to my new house but ended up switching elsewhere.

I've never needed to phone them but their setup is excellent. The monthly meter readings are no problem and keep it accurate. I've had 2 refunds as they take the first month right away so you have a reserve that can build up if you use less than expected. The system automatically offers you a refund so you don't have to call and negotiate. It's the least hassle I've ever had from an electrics company.

I transferred my parents and another relative to Octopus earlier this year and once my current deal with EDF expires I will be going with them.

The monthly meter readings are really good to monitor your use. Also I am sick of EDF pestering me to have a smart meter.

Hi,
I have just signed up to Octopus Energy. My son gave me a referral code and we both have received £50.00 credit. So it works!
I signed up because of his experience with Octopus, which has been very positive.

  1. Great customer relations
  2. One of the lowest tariffs for my postcode
  3. Renewable energy
  4. £50.00 referral code system
  5. No exit fees
  6. Smooth transition from my previous supplier If you have decided to sign up to Octopus, it would be great if you could use my referral code below and we will both receive £50.00 credit. simply copy and paste it into your browser and away you go.

Octopus energy - any good?

I've been with Octopus for over a year and would not change supplier. Their pricing is transparent and cheap and they offer green energy. They also update you if they have a cheaper tariff available and changeover to the new tariff is quick and easy. Never had any hassle at all and have also won on their wheel of fortune when submitting my meter readings. Fantastic service all round which is rare. My referral code for those who want a £50 gift is

Excellent service all round and very cheap fixed tariff. I've been with them for over a year and wouldn't go anywhere else. They seem like a decent and human company. Always notify you if they have a cheaper tariff available and switching is virtually instantaneous. Would highly recommend not least for their green electricity.

My referral code is share.octopus.energy/peach-crane-277

Octopus are fab. I was with them and then got an alert from moneysavingexpert suggesting a switch to pure planet to save money (also a renewable supplier). Pure planet have been crap in comparison to octopus, and really inflexible about their tariffs (you always pay for the extra gas used in winter months, rather than spreading over the year) so we've switched back to Octopus

mencken · 04/03/2020 14:47

no, they aren't any more renewable than anyone else is. It is all the same gas and electric, they just trade credits.

the plus is that they don't currently mandate smart meters. As you see they rely on network marketing so I'm not sure how long they will be in business, although they are the OFGEM goto when others go bust.

Emghfo · 24/04/2020 21:42

I've been with Octopus for a couple of years now and would recommend them - if anyone wants to sign up with a discount here's my £50 credit link - feel free to use :)

When I moved house recently the supplier was Octopus. I did a comparison on MSE & they came out quite expensive so I switched as soon as o could.

earsup · 25/04/2020 23:59

Am with them and happy but Yorkshire energy now cheaper so will change soon.

With them, but M&S are ostensibly the company I'm using. No smart meter being pushed was the impetus to move from SSE.

MissPollyPops · 28/09/2020 22:28

No probs with them. Easy to use website and easy to submit meter readings..

AmIAWeed · 29/09/2020 09:04

we have a smart meter with them, as we're on their electric car tariff. Absolute crap - I have to chase every month for a bill and cant even manually input one. Every month they say they are looking into it and every month I get no explanation. Its been almost 6 months now and as soon as the car goes so do they!
