Undoing glued blocks from furniture

Slightly odd one.
We've bought an art deco wardrobe which we discover cannot fit up the stairs whole, so I am looking to dissemble it and take it up bit by bit.
Problem is some panels are held together by small blocks of wood fitted into corners on the inside, and glued to the panels.

So..is there a common practice to unglue these blocks? An ungluing solution? Does one chip away with a chisel? Or bang the panels until they part from the blocks?

any advice/guidance very welcome.

tia

when you say art deco, do you mean it was manufactured in the 1920s?

If so the blocks are probably retained with scotch glue. It sets very hard. You could surgically remove it by running a thin blade in a Multicutter into the glueline between the block and each panel.

a multicutter works rather like those saws use to cut a plaster cast off a broken leg. The blade does not spin, it vibrates.

Beware there might be nails or pins as well. These will have been driven from the panel towards the block. The multicutter will cut through them but may need a new blade afterwards.

Yes it's an elderly wardrobe and 'looks' like an original - very stylish and well-built.

I will investigate the multi-cutter.

many thanks legendary PJ .
