Buying in Scotland - should we get our own survey done?

We're interested in a property and thjnking of putting in an offer. As we are in Scotland, we have the Home Report commissioned by the seller, which gave the property all 1s. Is it the norm to commission a full building survey in addition to this and make the offer conditional upon this? The property did appear to be in good condition, but we are really not experts. It was built in the early 70s and has been extended twice - once as a dormer extension over the garage, and also a single storey extension to the back. Both have flat roofs.

We bought in Scotland and had our own survey done. It gave us peace of mind and confirmed what needed doing.

I would recommend having your own survey done as Beebumble2 mentioned for your piece of mind.

For both extensions the current owners should have certificates either from the local authority / building control which shows the extensions were built to the current regulations at the time they were built.

all the best

I've bought three houses in Scotland and never had a separate survey done. One mortgage lender wanted their own valuer to go out, but they paid for that and it was simply a basic valuation.
