Yet another kitchen plan critique, pleease

Hello all,

I would really appreciate your thoughts on the kitchen plan attached (standard side return extension), I've been round in circles a thousand times and think I'm happy with this, but would appreciate a fresh perspective. Dimensions are 6.5m x4.84m.

I'm going with handmade kitchens direct and am in a quandary about whether to have it all in Hague blue (or similar) or just the island in blue and the rest in a neutral tone. the room is south facing and bright so I think it can take the dark, but I don't want to suck the light out of it either as it's a lovely light room at the mo.

All thoughts welcome-thank you!

@JW13 that looks lovely! The challenge we have with running units down the side return side (where the sofa is currently) is that the doorway opening is really close to the wall so the units with kind of jut out into the opening. I also would kind of prefer to have some kind of soft seating rather than more units as I don't think I really need them (I'm not a hoarder and this layout will already give me loads more storage than I have already)

It I definitely don't want it to feel too 'full' so perhaps I may need to rethink the sofa when I see the space...or maybe get a very narrow one!

I keep looking at this! Do you need to have the door from the living room or is that the only access? I’d be tempted to brick it in-run the tall cabinets along the back wall and rotate the island 90 degrees and have sofa and dining table at the end. I’m not sure the sofa should be that close to the island-whilst it fits it won’t be an enjoyable place to sit.

Aargh @Whattodowithaminute I do worry about that too... I guess I could lose the sofa if push came to shove...

I really need to two doorways as other wise either the hall or second reception room would be without light (the front is north facing so it really needs the light from this south facing room!)

@fishseddy I can see your dilemma and I do have a lot of kitchen stuff!

For what it's worth, I like having the 2 doors and our dining room would be very dark without it (we have glass panels in the door to the kitchen) as the only windows are in the front reception so the dining room would only have light from those if we'd cut off the kitchen....

Thanks so much everyone for your thoughts on the plan, I've been fiddling with it based on your feedback and have come up with a couple of other options. @Whattodowithaminute I totally agree that the sofa would not have been a nice place to sit in its previous position so I've decided against that plan...

@JW13 one of the new options is a bit like yours, but I won't have the hob in the middle so I'm not sure if the layout might be slightly impractical in my case? I actually prefer the look of this as there are clearer zones for the dining and sofa areas

It would be great to hear any thoughts on these versions! @oneplanonhouzz if you have any pearls of wisdom they would be greatly appreciated (if it's not too cheeky of me to ask!)

New options...

Oops just realised that the first pic is at a bit of an angle so doesn't show the space between the tall central units and the island properly (its 110cm)

This is a better pic
