Spare room as laundry room

Just sharing in case anyone is considering this. We just bought a 4 bed house so we could have a spare room. It occurred to me our mortgage is big now, just to have guests every so often.
Anyway, we have moved the washing machine and tumble dryer upstairs as there was nowhere downstairs that worked for us.
Just to say, now they are in the spare room, I have moved the ironing board and cordless Hoover up there. I love having a use for the room! The bed is always made for guests, and the laundry stuff can be shut away easily. I feel better about using the room.
Of course there may be down sides, but I just thought I would share how well it's working for anyone interested.

Realise you posted this in Feb and now April but very interested in this idea. How easy/difficult was it to plumb everything in upstairs and how have you organised the room?

I’m exhausted trying to think of ways to fit any sort of laundry room/cupboard into valuable living space downstairs (and also is sooo noisy) so decided upstairs may be the solution!

Love this American homes have the laundry room upstairs. Makes so much sense when you think about it. If I win the lottery I’m definitely building a house that will allow this.

I'm planning this for this Summer. Moving laundry from understairs to a corner of the landing area upstairs.

2 friends who have done this love it.

It makes sense if like me you live in a place where you use a dryer 360 days of the year.

I hope to convert the understairs to a loo at a later date.

I've always said that I'd have an upstairs laundry room if we ever build a house.

Yep, it's the best way - shower and bedrooms upstairs, why would I want to lug washing up and down.

When we were once living in a house with a massive spare room (not UK) I had shelves all round, and we kept all the clothes in there like a walk-in wardrobe, it was fantastic.

When we get to have our own house again I'm totally having an ensuite, then a walk-in wardrobe with washer/dryer, then the bedroom so it's all in one place I can have just shelves/chutes between the bathroom/laundry, and I never have to carry baskets of washing around the house again.

Yes, I was thinking of a corner of landing area (next door to bathroom) to stack washer and dryer and then do my sorting and ironing in spare room... or possibly have dryer in spare room.
