Engineered Wooden floors for Kitchen/Diner Questions

We are refurbishing our house and I have decided to go with engineered wooden floors in the new Kitchen/Diner/Utility and Muck room.

The kitchen/diner is a large, long space 11.7mx5.1m with what will become the utility and muck room (old kitchen/utility 3.4mx8x) at right angles to it.

I really want some lovely dark, rustic wide (equal to or over 240mm) oak boards.

Can anyone recommend a supplier?

Also, how much should I expect to pay for fitting?

I have just done this.

I probably could have done the entire floor with the amount of samples I got!

By far the nicest was from Beswick Stone. Runner up was from Floors of Stone. Interesting...

I am rubbish on measurements but our kitchen is massive and it cost £2200 to lay.

@Movinghouseatlast that is beautiful! I just looked it up-is it the scorched edge one? Did you as if it is suitable for kitchens? I've only ever had tile but really want to move away from that in my new kitchen...just a bit worried about the impact of spills

Also, I just looked up the price and it's coming out at just over £2k for the wood, did you say it was another £2k to lay it?

I did ask and it is suitable for kitchens. It's the scorched edge.

Laying was £2200.

I totally and utterly love it!

They have just put the leftover wood in our porch.

I am.just thrilled with the whole thing!

That is gorgeous. We have a total of 78sqm that will need to be done. and I like Beswick Stone Smoked Oak but the quote for the boards alone is £5100!

I might need to adjust my expectations Sad

We had wooden floors fitted from the Makeover Centre. They weren't exactly on the cheap side but they are amazing quality. Long-standing when putting up with nephews and dogs running around the house.

I had engineered wood in my last house, after ten years it was very worn in places, we never did get around to getting it sanded and re oiled. I've decided that with my current project I'm going for Quick Step which is much cheaper with my builders discount (£30 per m) and hopefully will wear better, I'm planning to have it in the whole of the downstairs including shower room, which I couldn't do with real wood. I have 86m2 to cover

Hi @Movinghouseatlast I am very late (3 years!) to this thread but if you’re still active on here I wondered if you’d mind sharing more photos of your flooring. I’m considering the same but haven’t been able to find many photographs on line. Thanks so much!
